Only in 2015 did we discover the Chinese five-spice mixture. When we needed it for a bbq recipe. It is such an herb that you think: "You buy it once and then you never use it again". That was not the case with us. In no time we had to go back to the shop to buy a new jar. In Breda, by the way, we were a child at home in the toko. The great thing about this store is that they have all the spices & affordable. The Chinese five spice powder is a mix of ground star anise, fennel, Szechuan pepper, cinnamon and cloves. This traditional spice mixture is used in Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine for meat dishes, especially pork. Either ideal with a bacon steak. ;-) Enjoy it!
