When it is cold outside I eat as much as possible. They say that a hot breakfast in the morning will make you feel warm for the rest of the day, a cold breakfast will keep you cold for the rest of the day. It will make no sense. Yet I notice, with this in mind, I prefer to choose something warm in the morning .. I do not want to look up the cold either;) That is why I am again varying and trying with all kinds of breakfast cereals. We already know oatmeal and that I like to eat banana through it is nothing new. So this weekend I made several breakfasts with buckwheat, quinoa, freekeh, millet, amaranth and spelled. It takes some getting used to because you just cook oatmeal and you're done. Some other grains require a little more. Still, it was well worth it because these are all grains! I often ate them with a salad but for breakfast they do just as well! With some fruit, different kinds of spices, broken linseed and hemp seed, I can take it again. Today I share the recipe for a delicious hot quinoa breakfast. Not made with the well-known quinoa grains, but with quinoa flakes. You can buy these at the organic shop and are perfect to use as a substitute for oatmeal. You can of course alternate with topping, I really like the combination with apple and cinnamon because it tastes like apple pie.
