Heat a large pan (because the ketchup will certainly splash when heated) on medium heat and add the tomato puree and the water.

Meanwhile, peel the apple and cut out the core. Cut into coarse pieces.

Clean the onion and cut into coarse pieces.

Put the apple, onion and garlic in a food processor and grind to a puree.

Add the puree to the tomato puree mixture, together with the vinegar, clove, pepper and honey.

Bring the mixture gently to the boil, then turn the heat low and simmer for 30 minutes (without lid on the pan).

Allow the ketchup to cool and put it in a blender.

Mix in the blender until you have a nice, even ketchup.
